We are BATWomen
The BATWomen are a high performance team of female triathletes in Portland, Oregon. The BATWomen are comprised of ITU and Ironman World Champions, US National Champions and Northwest Regional Champions as well as women who are Olympians and former NCAA runners, swimmers, rowers and cyclists who are pursuing triathlon at the elite, professional and age-group level. We have athletes competing at the sprint, Olympic, 70.3 and Ironman distances, as professionals, age groupers and aspiring elites.
The BATWomen have competed at the ITU Triathlon World Championships, the 70.3 Ironman World Championships, the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii and the Western States 100. We also compete at local and regional races across the Pacific Northwest; at the USAT National Championships; and at Ironman races all over the world. When races were cancelled in 2020, we created our own challenges, including an “Everest-ing” ride to raise money for the Oregon Food bank and Mocktoria 70.3 to replace the cancelled half ironman in Victoria. We represent four age categories, work full time as project managers, coaches, graduate students and consultants, and have families and pursuits outside triathlon. When racing returned in 2021, we were back on track where possible, competing on the local, national and world stage.
Operating under a nickname given to us by some of our training partners - Bad Ass Triathlete Women - The BATWomen form a supportive and close-knit training team. In addition to pursuing our individual goals, we maintain a competitive but balanced environment in which we both challenge and fortify each other in training and in life. And let's be honest, it's just fun to ride a bike wearing a cape.
