ALY WILSON
Aly is a born and raised Portland kid. She grew up swimming competitively with the Multnomah Athletic Club swim team. She was a 2-time State Champion and went on to swim at the University of Idaho, graduating in 2011 with a BS in Psychology. By her senior year Aly held multiple school records in both individual events and relays.
Looking to feed her competitive side after college, Aly bought a bike and signed up for her first sprint triathlon. Absolutely terrified, she watched the race the day before, delighted to discover men and women of all ages, shapes and sizes out doing what they love. To this day that race was one of the most inspiring moments she’s experienced and it helped shape her idea of what it means to race triathlon. The next day Aly won her age group and was hooked. As her interest changed to longer distance races, she signed up for the 11-mile Portland Bridge Swim in 2012, placing 3rd overall out of men, women, and relay teams. The Bridge Swim also gave her a crash course in the importance of fueling during long races. In 2013, she raced her first 70.3 in Boise and fell in love with long course. In 2018, after taking some time off, Aly climbed her first 70.3 podium, placing 4th in her age group at 70.3 Superfrog in San Diego.
Aly trains and competes for the Multnomah Athletic Club triathlon team and masters swim team and is a member of the Portland Triathlon Club. Outside of swimming and triathlon, Aly enjoys camping, hiking, snowshoeing, spending time on the Oregon Coast, wine tasting, trail running, kayaking and general adventuring with her husband. Aly and her husband Nick have a baby girl who they cart around on their running, biking and hiking adventures.
