ALLIE GARCEAU

Allie Garceau grew up in New Hampshire surrounded by mountains and lakes fostering a deep love for the outdoors from an early age. She’s always loved sports that allow her to traverse terrain and see the world. As a child, she split her time between running cross country, ski racing, and dance. As a high school freshman, she joined the rowing team and immediately developed a deep passion for the sport. In the summer, Allie created “triathlons” involved running, kayaking, and biking to cross train in the summer. Inspired by her uncle, a competitive triathlete, Allie knew she wanted to compete in “real” triathlons in the future.

Allie rowed for the lightweight team at Georgetown University, where she was nominated to the All-American Team in 2016 and 2017. She’s most proud of the cultural shift she ignited that ultimately fostered a more tightly bonded team, inspiring a confident group of women. She led her team from a 9th place finish her freshman year at the IRA National Championship to a 4th place finish her senior year. Allie helped the team accomplish multiple “firsts,” including securing victories over powerhouse Harvard after ten years of defeat and beating Princeton for the first time in the team’s history.

Allie graduated from Georgetown in 2018, and traveled around Asia, Australia, and New Zealand for three months. In the summer of 2019, after a yearlong hiatus from training and competing, she signed up for a marathon in Washington. She placed 2nd in her age group and 5th overall, qualifying for Boston, which she will run this year. Allie is new to the sport of triathlon. She’s stoked to learn the ins and outs of a new sport and test her limits in two disciplines relatively new to her; biking and swimming.

Allie lives in Portland with her boyfriend/behind-the-scenes cycling coach, Tex, and German short haired pointer, Ziggy. She’s putting her Global Health degree to work at a start-up that’s working to bring a diagnostic test for malaria and sickle cell disease to the market. When not training, Allie loves to experiment with plant-based cooking, explore new places, ski, and read about nutrition.
